Silver Experience

For the past 2 years I was the CWIT Peer Mentoring Co Lead. This involved me being in bi weekly meeting to plan and execute monthly events for the peer mentoring matches. I was also a peer mentor to two mentees. I did step back from the lead position to focus on graduation. But I will continuing my time as a peer mentoring. In addition to being a part of the peer mentoring program for CWIT, I was a peer mentor for UMBC's ASME peer mentoring program, M.O.D.E.L. Me.

For my reflection, I’ve been able to see over the two years, peer mentees come out of their shell and get more involved in CWIT and has then moved up to other leadership positions. This experience also taught me how to effectively plan an event by myself and with a group of people. Lastly, this also taught me how to be a better mentor, through my experiences as a mentor and witnessing and hearing about good and bad mentors.

Over all this experience brought me out of my shell in order to help out students, work with faculty, and be an effective peer mentor. I have personally noticed that I am a lot more confident and eager to take leadership rolls.
